Helping your organisation to achieve sustained high performance without damaging your people.
Foresight helps businesses, academic institutions and government organisations improve how their people make decisions, work together and lead. It applies lessons developed through decades of work in fire and rescue, emergency medicine and humanitarian response to everyday organisational performance.
Foresight is a civilian approach, distinct from military and policing methods. It is built on shared responsibility for achieving results, and on trust and consent rather than obedience.

What We Do
Foresight provides education, consultancy and coaching to improve how organisations operate and how their people work together. Each service can be used independently or as part of a connected programme, helping people make better decisions, apply the right behaviour for the context and sustain performance without damaging health or welfare.

Courses
Structured education and training in the methods and behaviours developed within the emergency and humanitarian services. Delivered at your location or at our specialist facility, courses help team members, leaders and senior decision makers understand when to manage, follow, lead or command.

Consultancy
We examine how your operation works in practice and how its systems, decisions, behaviours and working relationships affect performance. Our independent findings identify underlying causes and provide clear, prioritised actions for what to stop, start and continue.

Coaching
Confidential, practical coaching that helps individuals and teams turn understanding into better everyday performance. Coaching strengthens judgement, confidence, communication and leadership while supporting sustainable performance, health and welfare.

Why We Do It
Global events, economic uncertainty, rising costs and local operational problems can quickly disrupt plans and increase demand. Organisations are still expected to deliver, often with less time, fewer people and reduced resources. This creates pressure to do more with less, even when teams are already working close to their limits.
The cost of pressure
Under pressure, roles can become blurred, communication narrows and decisions are made without enough information or challenge. Organisations often respond by adding rules, demanding more from already stretched staff or using authority when cooperation would work better. This weakens trust, increases mistakes and passes the pressure down to the people responsible for delivering the work.
A better way to perform
Fire and rescue, emergency medical and humanitarian response teams operate under pressure as part of their normal work. They cannot postpone difficult decisions or lower standards when circumstances become challenging, but nor can they regard damage to their people as acceptable. Their experience shows that exceptional performance and the protection of health and welfare should support one another, rather than compete.

The Foresight Framework
A systematic and forward looking approach to assessing situations, anticipating change, making decisions, coordinating action and reviewing results. It brings structure and clarity to everyday operations, periods of change and fast moving events.
The Foresight Behaviours
Management, followership, leadership and command are four different ways of working. They are not ranks, positions or personality types. People move between them according to their responsibilities and what the situation requires.

Built on trust, consent and shared responsibility.
Management
The rules, policies, procedures and guidance of an organisation.

Followership
The voluntary, authentic and active support provided to a leader.

Leadership
The guidance, direction and support provided to a follower.

Command
Leadership without consultation, requires the consent of followers.
