Teaching, practice and reflection.

Structured teaching is combined with discussion, workshops, practical scenarios, peer feedback and guided reflection. Examples are connected to the responsibilities participants hold in their own organisation.

Available as a standard course or adapted for an organisation. The proposal confirms the programme length, participants, location, delivery arrangements and price before booking. Specialist experiential activities are optional and agreed separately.

Compare Foundation, Supervision and Direction

Who it is for

Choose by responsibility.

Directors, departmental or divisional heads, senior programme leads, strategic planners, policy leads and senior operational leaders with responsibilities across teams or services.

Senior leadership involves more than keeping today’s work moving. Direction creates space to connect immediate pressures with longer-term purpose, align resources and maintain oversight as conditions change.

The learning

What participants work on.

  • Clear aims and objectives across a department, programme or organisation
  • Strategic use of the Foresight Framework for planning and oversight
  • Decisions with incomplete information and competing demands
  • Accountability that recognises human and organisational limits
  • External scrutiny, internal conflict and structural constraints
  • Consistent direction and communication through change or disruption

Learning through practice.

Participants work with examples adapted to their responsibilities. Discussion and planning exercises examine how decisions affect different teams, what deserves strategic attention and how to maintain a clear direction when workstreams compete.

Teaching, case discussion and exercises connect the Framework and Behavioural System with strategic decisions. The programme is shaped around the organisation’s circumstances and the participants’ responsibilities.

Standards and care
belong together.

The Foresight Management Framework supports decisions about what needs to happen. The Behavioural System develops how people manage, follow, lead and command. Command is exercised by consent, with responsibility for decisions and for the people involved.

Feedback and debriefs focus on learning, behaviour and the work. Questions and constructive challenge are part of the process.
